We are a proud family-run business rooted in the heart of the thriving Manningtree High Street.

After successfully establishing Bates Upholstery in 2013, we outgrew our workshop where clients would chat to us between fabrics rolls and cushion fillers and decided to merge the upholstery workshop with a shop front.

For us, it's more than just products — it's about our community, our neighbours, and our inspiration.

Bates Upholstery & Interiors is open for consultations, workshops, searching through fabric books, being inspired, shopping and encourages shopping on your high streets.

Over the years, we've built our reputation on quality craftsmanship, friendly service, and a genuine passion for helping people make their homes and spaces truly their own. From expertly tailored upholstery to bespoke interior design and a handpicked selection of unique, affordable gifts, we bring together skill, creativity, and care in everything we do.

Bates Upholstery & Interiors was founded by Zoey Bates who has distilled her unique past of being a silversmith, jewellery designer, upholsterer and collector of curiosities and randomness, into the hand picked products to the Bates Own Brand textiles on offer.
